Jester & Spirit 

Growing up in Thunder Bay, my relationship to landscape has inspired me to create photographically for over fifty  years. Jester & Spirit is an unmanipulated photograph from my Images on Rocks digital photographic series of rocks, water, trees, and sky in Northern Ontario. The Jester is speaking to the Spirit which is hanging upside down poking fun at the Jester. It’s a comical juxtaposition. You can also see the drill mark from blasting when this rock cut was severed and exposed the Jester & Spirit. 

This photograph is a limited edition colour archival quality giclée print. Images on Rocks received support from the Ontario Arts Council and the Laurentian University Research Fund.

Bio

Kathy Browning is an Artist and an Art Educator. She has a Ph.D. and B.Ed. from University of Toronto, an M.F.A. from York University, and a B.F.A. Honours from the University of Manitoba. Kathy has taught Visual Arts and Technology at the elementary, secondary, and university levels. She has shown artwork in all art media in Canada and the United States. Kathy has received provincial and national awards and recognitions for art, videos, art education, writing, publishing, and editing. Kathy’s giclée photographic prints are on archival paper in editions of 10.
